Hey all,

Looking for guidance based upon your experiences.

When I apply for a position I notice through USAJOBS, I accept always submitted my resume--customized for the specific announcement--using USAJOBS' resume office. However, for some of the agencies (BLM) you may upload a file of your resume.

Is there whatsoever benefit to uploading the certificate over using the USAJOBS resume function?

Thanks.

I do the USAjobs resume, it ends upwardly being 4-v pages simply hey, they asked for all that data. If you upload a shorter resume you lot might miss some of the things they desire and you only go one shot at it.

I only used the template in USAJobs. I think the HR people are used to seeing the information presented that way and might prefer information technology, knowing that they'll know when there is missing information. But that's merely a hunch.

I always did the United states job resume but had the same thoughts equally you lot. So I fabricated my ain custom resume and uploaded information technology as a "embrace letter" in the saved documents department. my custom resume was much shorter (ii pages) and only striking the hot topics. I got picked upwardly within two months that manner

You should employ the USAjobs resume builder considering it satisfies what the HR wants; why gamble it. I accept never had whatever problems with the resume builder. Besides, a longer than usual resume for a federal job is not even a problem. Information technology will exist disappointing to miss something considering you decided to customize and upload your manner of resume. I suggest using the USAjobs resume builder; you tin't get wrong with it when applying for a federal position.

It really depends on what grade! If you lot're applying for something like a 5, utilise the resume builder. The questions are geared to lower level jobs and they go thousands of applications ... so it's easier for the recruiter. If you are applying for say 13 or higher, they would expect you to accept a professional person resume, and there aren't and so many applications. Recollect virtually information technology ... no existent professional is going to screw around with the clunky resume builder!!! If you're in the mid-grades, it'southward tougher to phone call!!!

Whether yous use the resume builder or not is upward to yous, but . . .. The resume builder is designed to inquire yous for data that Hour explicitly expects to be provided in the resume. Skipping only i of these information points can outcome in your application being considered incomplete, or the HR person doing the review deciding that they can't find evidence supporting your claim on the questionnaire of half-dozen years' experience doing [blah] in your resume (didn't include dates, or include a annotate about that specific expereince in each and every time block where it aplied in order to larn six years' experience, etc.).

A professional person resume tries to be far more than succinct. The government HR team wants explicit and detailed. If y'all were responsible for the training, evaluation of grooming and personal appraisals for a team of network engineers at 3 unlike job positions beyond a series of five positions, the Hr team wants those 3 positions to explicitly call out that responsibility (and each position to explicitly telephone call out dates) . . ..

Non certain where yous get this from. I managed to land several GS13 job offers (including my current position) with the resume builder in USAJOBS. Same with the about contempo -14 and -13 hires in my bureau.

HR doesn't hire y'all. If you lot are not getting referred, then your resume is potentially not coming together the Hr requirements. If you lot are getting referred, then information technology is. If you are getting referred and not hired, y'all might want to utilize a better resume format than the atrocious format spit out by the resume builder.

If you are the best in your field and caput and shoulders above the other applicants, whether you use resume builder or not does not matter. If you are ane in 400 applications for a GS-7 job, consider putting your best pes forrad and giving the hiring official something well-formatted and piece of cake to read.

Possibly it'south overkill, merely I upload my own CV as well as tag the USAJobs ane. That way, they take an option of which one to look at.
